Proofreading • Editing • Writing Services
In the age of “LOL” and 140 character communications, it’s encouraging to know that good writing hasn’t gone “out of style.” In fact, with the internet and social media turning everyone into a writer with a worldwide audience, it’s as important as ever. A poorly proofed blog post or disorganized manuscript can impede you from effectively delivering your message, not to mention cost you your credibility. And while we are dedicated to supporting you in creating writing that is grammatically correct, we are equally interested in helping you deliver
a message that is clear, concise, and compelling.
We offer services from proofreading to developmental writing to ensure that you are meeting your communication goals. With our creative partners, we also manage projects to provide you with branding, logos, websites, and more:
More! Let's talk about YOUR project.
Our proofreading service addresses errors in spelling, grammar, typos, and formatting. It’s difficult to spot the errors in your own work! “Spell check” won’t catch the difference between “to” and “too,” or “there” and “their,” but you can guarantee your readers will!
Our editing service addresses your content, delving into sentence and paragraph structure, flow, language use, clarity, and readability. It will also address typos, misused words, and grammatical issues. Editing is essential to ensure not just the accuracy of your writing, but its effectiveness.
Our writing services take your concept and turn it into well-written text that both demonstrates your professionalism and entices readers. We specialize in content for small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Always Write partners with other creative professionals to provide support for your project from start to finish. We can provide branding, logo development, copy, illustration, websites, and mailing list management.
Shira Firestone, MNM
Shira Firestone spends much of her time exploring her new home town
of Charlotte, NC, after moving from Seattle, WA, to be closer to family.
With a Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management and a Certification in Holistic Nutrition, Shira believes in life-long learning, binging on Ted Talks and online courses, “just because.” She holds season tickets to the symphony but is in her happy place at a bluegrass festival. She sings fairly well and plays the piano pretty poorly. She asks the names of her servers and talks to people in the elevator.
When Shira was a child, her goals were to memorize the entire dictionary and star in a Broadway play. As for the first goal, she abandoned it when she reached the word "abandoned." As for the second, hey, it could still happen! In high school, she diagrammed sentences, just for "fun." (Do they still teach that?) So, when her (now grown) kids came home at the beginning of the school year with a welcome letter from the principal, she sent it back the next day covered with red marks and edits. It may not have made the school year easy on the kids, but it did point Shira to a career path.
Her guilty secrets are that she watches Hallmark in December (and cancels her subscription in January) and that she has seen Donny and Marie, live.
Currently, she edits and writes for nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals.
Word of the Week
of or relating to a tree : resembling a tree
"In the wild, they're arboreal and live in tropical rainforests. And as their name implies, sloths move slowly. So slowly, in fact, that they have a metabolic rate of about 40 percent to 45 percent of 'what would be expected for their body weight,' according to zoo experts." — Dana Hedgpeth, The Washington Post, 30 Dec. 2019
“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise.
The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”
― Sylvia Plath
“Shira is great to work with and I would not hesitate to work with her again. She wrote and edited all of the copy for my website.
Her work is very professional and I could not be happier with
the ease of communication!”
